Warm brown bronze summer makeup look

One of the things that has quickly taken a back seat over the past couple of months, right next to bras, which I don’t think will make a comeback is makeup. I mean, once you’ve gotten used to working from home, you might be asking yourself whether there’s really a need to wear a full face of makeup. It’s probably even easy to view it as something frivolous, given everything we’re dealing with in the world at the moment.

The truth is, it’s about trying to retain some level of normalcy by keeping up with our pre-pandemic routines and help us keep going, whatever they may be. So, whether you choose to wear a full face of makeup or go bare faced, if you are doing it for you and you feel good about it, that’s all that matters.

The one thing I will judge you for however, is not wearing sunscreen. If you can afford it, I’m sorry, there’s no good explanation you can give for not investing in a good quality, high SPF sunscreen and wearing it every single day even when you’re indoors.

Personally, I’ve really cut back on the amount of makeup I apply over the years and come to really enjoy going about my days without a full beat. My everyday makeup look will normally consist of filled in eyebrows, a bit of eyeliner and mascara and for my lips, lip balm and lipstick.

Since the shift to working from home, I’ve been tempted to not really bother with my look and have had days when I don’t really do much other than wash and moisturize my face. For the most part, I’ve made an effort to stick to my standard everyday makeup look, save for swapping out lipstick for a light gloss, because we are not out here trying to waste our lipstick and standard office wear clothes for lounge wear (read tights and t-shirts). Quarantine chic if you may; I look put together enough for a video call but I might also be taking a nap in the next hour or so, who knows; I stay nap ready with or without brows.

Every so often though, I’ll whip up my makeup skills and do a full-face beat, for the fun of it and to remind myself that I can still blend foundation and eye shadow. Since skincare has always been a number one priority for me, being indoors has also allowed me to focus more on my skincare regimen, giving my skin what it needs to thrive and it shows with this look.

To be honest, I really didn’t know what direction the look was going to take with this look and hadn’t thought it through but I was pleasantly surprised and happy with how it turned out and how cohesive it was especially with the head wrap.

I feel like this look would look amazing on any skin tone, especially us melanin girls and is perfect for summer.
