Flirty bright monochromatic pink makeup look

I have never really been big on the colour pink, particularly the bright shades of it, not that I have anything against it. I have own and have worn outfits and even gotten manicures and pedicures done in pink, but on its own, it is generally not a colour I gravitate to. I like the colour pink in small doses…a pop of it here and there every so often to bring an outfit to life or as an accent wall or piece of furniture to provide a focal point or add contrast to a room.

For some reason, I find it to be too much…like that colleague who walks into the office early on a Monday morning, with a tad too much cheerfulness, it takes you a cup of coffee and all the grace you can muster to resist the urge to slap some of that happiness off. Also, because you love being able to pay your bills and treating yourself to nice things.

So, you can imagine my surprise at how much I ended up loving this flirty, bright pink makeup look. To be fair, I had also not applied makeup in close to four months, so I was giddy with excitement, getting back into playing with colour and having fun while at it. I was nervous at first though, because I thought my blending skills had gone down the drain and for some reason, I felt this immense pressure to make sure my makeup was perfect.

It is strange how we will start doing things out of love and passion, things we know we are good and gifted at but then somewhere along the line we either let a bit of fear creep in and make us start doubting our abilities or we forget to have fun and start burdening ourselves unnecessarily as we pursue perfection. I have always viewed makeup as a colouring or painting activity with the canvas being my face with the bonus that even if a certain eyeshadow colour or technique does not work out, I can always wipe it off and start again.

Once I got into the rhythm while filming this look, I completely forgot about all the nerves I had. I got so engrossed in it and with each minute, I loved how it came together and most of all how happy it made me feel. I literally could not stop smiling or looking at myself in the mirror and it took me 10 minutes to get it together and end the video.

It feels great to be back to doing something that brings me so much joy and I cannot wait to try out different colours and see how they turn out. I don’t want to get too crazy here but I think I can also confidently say I love the colour pink
